Covered by the Blood
In Exodus 24 we see Moses reading the commandments to the people, and although they agreed to keep them, they had no power to do so. In this setting (Exodus 24:6), Moses took half of the blood of the offerings and sprinkled on the altar and the other half of the blood he sprinkled on the people thus ratifying the covenant. The blood sprinkled on the altar represented God’s agreement to forgive and the blood sprinkled on the people was their bond to God! Just as Moses was the mediator between God and the people of the Moses’ day, so is Jesus the mediator of the new covenant. His blood was sprinkled on the altar (cross) and Hebrews 5:9 says that He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him! Our part is to believe and obey. The Old Testament people had to be covered by the blood! By faith we too have been covered by the blood.

The Invitation
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. It is impossible to live without sinning. That’s why God provided a sacrifice, His Son. Jesus who did not sin became an eternal sacrifice for all who believe that! He died a horrible death on the cross. He paid an awful price so that you and I could be saved. If you know that you have sinned and want to be forgiven, turn from your wicked ways and accept God’s provision. Pray this simple prayer: Lord, I know that I am a sinner and I want to be forgiven. I accept Jesus as my Lord and turn from all evil. Jesus come into my heart and fill me with your precious Holy Spirit. I am born again. Thank you Lord!
You don’t have to pray it out loud or in a church, but you do need to confess it before others. If you prayed this and believed it in your heart, you are now a child of God. You are saved. You have a home in Heaven and all the angels are rejoicing because you have turned to God! Get a bible and begin reading it. The book of John is a great place to start. Be sure to find others to share your faith with and find a place where you can worship God with others of like and precious faith. Welcome to the family of God!
